Papers document Janowitz's career from his early research at the University of Chicago following World War II, to his tenure on the University's faculty (1947-1951) and at the University of Michigan (from 1951), to his work after his return to Chicago in 1961. Papers relate to Janowitz's classes on sociology and his study of the military, mass communication, and prejudice. Includes material on Detroit area study, the history of Chicago sociology, World War II Nazi propaganda, and citizenship project.
